Can you transit through Singapore without a visa?
For most French-speaking travellers in transit only, no special formalities are required beyond the usual entry requirements. There is also a specific facility, the Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF), valid for 96 hours and reserved for certain specific nationalities (CIS countries, Georgia, India, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and certain holders of mainland Chinese passports), according to Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
To benefit from it, you must present a confirmed air ticket to a third country within 96 hours, as well as a valid visa or long-term permit (valid for at least one month) for Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States. You may enter by any means of transport, but you must leave by air. No extension is possible under this scheme.
For French, Belgian and Swiss nationals making a simple stopover or taking a standard tourist trip, entry to Singapore remains subject to the usual visa-exemption rules, independently of the VFTF. Our page on administrative procedures in Singapore lists the documents to prepare before departure.
